Rapid Recovery Program™

Many of our younger patients are candidates for the Rapid Recovery Program for hip and knee replacements. The purpose of Rapid Recovery is to restore joint function and activity level as quickly and safely as possible.

One of the drawbacks of lower body joint replacement is that it has traditionally required four to six weeks of rehabilitation. This presents a particularly difficult problem for younger patients who are still employed and are unable to stay away from work for four to six weeks.

With the Rapid Recovery Program, patients can return to work after two weeks, and the recovery is much shorter. New materials and implant designs allow a surgical approach that has less effect on muscles and other tissues. This, coupled with specially designed physical therapy, advanced pain management and counseling, enables patients to recover more quickly and return to their preoperative level of functioning much sooner.
